Our Story

It all started in the fall of 2010 at East Carolina University — home of the Pirates. Kara and Patrick were just two wide-eyed freshmen navigating college life, living in the same dorm (she was on the 2nd floor, he was on the 4th). They crossed paths then, and while Kara had a bit of a crush on the charming guy upstairs, Patrick wasn’t quite ready for anything serious. Life moved on, and after that first year, so did they — losing touch as college and careers took them in different directions. Patrick went to school for History while Kara went for Criminal Justice. Life has a funny way of bringing people back when the timing is finally right. Fast forward about ten years. One fateful night (and maybe one drink too many), Patrick decided to shoot his shot and reach out. To his surprise, Kara responded — and something just clicked. They started talking nonstop, texting and calling every day, catching up on lost time. Soon, they were making regular trips to see each other, even sneaking past curfews during the height of COVID just to spend time together. It was risky... but worth it. Their connection only grew stronger. From late-night video game marathons to peaceful days birdwatching (Kara’s favorite) or hitting the golf course (Patrick’s happy place), they found comfort in the little things — and in each other. Now, they share a home with their beloved Bernese Mountain Dog, Rip, and are pouring their love into renovating the house that once belonged to Patrick’s grandfather. It’s become a symbol of their past, present, and future — full of character, warmth, and a few home improvement projects that test their teamwork (and patience). What started as a college hallway crush has grown into a true partnership — full of laughter, love, and more than a few trips to the hardware store. After years apart, a decade of growth, and one perfectly timed message — Kara and Patrick found their way back to each other. This time, for good. They can't wait to say "I do" and begin their next great adventure together.
