The dress code is cocktail attire, but really we just want you to feel comfortable and happy! A few tips - the ceremony will be outside on the lawn (careful with heels!) and the reception will be tented with heaters. We hear that the heaters keep things quite warm!
The ceremony will be outdoors - and yes, the weather is looking chilly! Bring a coat and plan accordingly because we are committed to having the ceremony outside unless for some reason it is raining. Reception will be indoors/tented/warm!
Check the weather before you pack! The weather is looking cold (we're talking lows of 30 and highs of 50.) Normally around this time of year, it has ranged from 50s-70s... but what are you gonna do. It looks like it will be sunny though so hopefully it will be a warm 50!
The food will be catered by City Barbeque and there will be a corn pudding and macaroni and cheese that are both veggie friendly. We also have veggie patties for the 5 people who indicated they are vegetarian!
Covid? What's covid? :) Obviously Covid is a big concern for anyone planning a wedding (or a trip, family gathering, going to the grocery store, etc…). We chose a venue that gives us the option to be open air as much as possible. While masks are not required at this time, you are welcome to wear one if you feel more comfortable. Covid-19 tests are not required but are encouraged if you are in close contact with someone who tested positive or aren't feeling well. We will update you if the circumstances change and are looking forward to celebrating together.
While we love all of your kiddos, we are planning our wedding to be a kid-free celebration and hopefully a fun night out for you. We appreciate your understanding! If you are planning to bring your younger kids on the trip and need recommendations for babysitters, please let one of us know! We are happy to help find qualified folks in the area.
Yes, we would advise that you get a rental car for your trip. While the hotel we have a room block is walkable to bars/restaurants in town, there may be more that you'd like to see and a car would be helpful. There is not many options for Ubers/Lyfts in town and Carrollton itself is about 50 minutes from the airport.
Yup! There is plenty of parking at the venue.
It is about 1 mile from the Marriott to the venue and it is safe and walkable with side walks. We aren't necessarily suggesting you do that, but if the question is CAN you walk, the answer is yes you can.
YES! We will have a 10-passenger van shuttling people back and forth from the Marriott to the Inn at Oak Lawn Farms. We will start running the shuttle at 3:50 PM and go through 4:50 PM. Throughout the reception we will regularly run the shuttle back and forth.
We are asking for what's called an "unplugged ceremony" however, for the rest of the weekend, please do and use our hashtag #dropthatess. We just ask that you wait until the Bride and Groom post a wedding picture first before sharing anything on social media. Also, no pics of Katelyn where she's making a weird face or something. Please and thank you :)
OK, we are excited about this. We are having Live music from our friends and local Carrollton musicians, Eva Rose and David Pippen. We love games and will have board games, trivia, and lawn games as well. Finally, Katelyn will be producing a wedding music video - so stay tuned for your allotted lines and be sure to record your lyric at the reception!
Yes! We will have a broad selection of some of our favorite beer, wine and seltzers as well as a few signature drinks. While we won't have a FULL bar we will have a variety of liquor, mixers, and some signature drinks.
We are leaving the Monday morning after our wedding to get away for a few days on a little mini-moon! We will be around the full week before the wedding and would love to see you OR can help you ahead of time with tips on where to visit/things to see during your trip
We get it. Katelyn asks a lot of questions too. Reach out via our wedding email address at KBandJBwedding@gmail.com.
