After a few years of close misses (our younger brothers played on the same youth baseball team, and we even attended a few of the same family parties), we finally met in summer 2008 at a mutual friend's house. Our relationship began as a friendship (Garrett was actually dating someone else at the time!). Many months down the road, we began flirting during the summer of 2009. Then, Garrett made it official one Saturday night at the movies.

In May of 2016 after college graduation, Garrett planned a cross-country road trip from our hometown of Jacksonville, Florida to West Texas. We stopped in New Orleans, Biloxi, Austin, San Antonio and finally Big Bend National Park. We absolutely fell in love with Big Bend and Austin, promising each other we'd make it back to Texas one day. Fast forward almost two years, we made the leap to move to Austin during the summer of 2018. After getting settled, falling more in love with the city and making some amazing friends, we planned a weekend camping trip to Big Bend with another couple, Carly and Zach. We arrived in Terlingua, Texas on Friday, April 13, set up camp and headed out to hike the Hot Springs Trail along the Rio Grande. After three miles, Zach mentioned taking a photo with a beautiful background. After a few snaps, Carly said "Do something silly!" I prepared to jump in the air, while Garrett got down on one knee. He popped the most amazing question in the place where we began our greatest adventure to date.

We'll be leaving from the Houston airport on the evening of Monday, June 10 and make our way to Athens, Greece! We plan to spend one day in Athens followed by three days in Santorini and six days in Mykonos, enjoying the food, sights and culture. We'll close our trip by returning to Athens and spend our final night (on our layover) in London before returning to Houston on Saturday, June 22.

Although we're from Jacksonville, Austin has truly become our home. For this reason, we want to introduce our friends and family who have not had the chance to visit us yet to the beautiful Hill Country. Our ceremony will be held at a gorgeous venue, Canyonwood Ridge, just outside of Austin in Dripping Springs, Texas on June 9, 2019. Our ceremony will be on a Sunday, and we encourage our family and friends to come Friday or Saturday to enjoy the city, great BBQ and live music before our big day!
