Kaamari is a 28 year old Transman (pronouns: he / him / they) from Detroit, Michigan who came on their own to South Africa to find his forever home. He had no idea he’d find it with this silly, young, sweet, amazing person. Bokang is a 21 year old Transperson (pronouns: it / he) who has lived all over South Africa. It was even in Johannesburg when Kaamari landed but neither of them stayed in the province. Kaamari went straight to Pretoria while Bokang took a little extra time. It seems, though, that once it met Kay, he was smitten. The two are often together, gaining the nickname "KaynFoxx". People have said that they know the other is close by if they just see one. However, personally, they started calling themselves "Katt n Foxx" because Kaamari has always felt like they acted pretty cat-like: affectionate on their own terms, will "sneak up" on people by having quiet steps and just being quiet altogether, and even the way they often move is cat-like. Bokang has a fox-like face and is sly in movement like a fox as well. On top of that, when he meets someone, he often introduces himself as Foxx, including when he met Kay. Additionally, cats and foxes have a sort of yin and yang energy about them, inciting the couple to get the tattoo together. After some time, they decided they were the Foxx to the other's Katt, and vice versa.
Kaamari was a featured artist at the event Bokang was hosting with some of his friends. Bokang happened to be the only one there when Kay arrived and it couldn’t take it’s eyes or smile off of him. Bokang even helped Kay record videos for their instagram page while Kay helped Bokang finish setting up the space, with their event planning expertise. The trouble was, Kay was forming a romantic relationship with another person and, in fact, started dating that person that night. Bokang didn’t let that stop it, also knowing Kay is poly. They formed a platonic relationship quickly and even moved in together after a short time knowing each other, as circumstances required it. The two soon began developing romantic feelings for each other after having to know each other intimately. Throughout the duration of Kaamari’s romantic relationship with their other partner, he couldn’t communicate with them to let them know they wanted another partner. Unfortunately, he lived out of town with either of them able to make transportation to the other. And he wasn’t being communicative with anyone, including Kay. Eventually, after about a month, Kay and their (now-ex) partner were able to see each other. Kay’s partner told him he needed to be on his own and they should be friends. Kay told his previous partner that he was already nearly dating someone else and living with them. They split amicably. Bokang and Kaamari left the event early and started dating officially (and had their first kiss) on 26 April 2023
We did everything backwards: We started living together before we started dating. We got engaged (technically) before we started dating and even had a first kiss. We both talked about how neither of us believe in marriage because of a few different things. We talked about how Bokang wants to start having children in his early twenties so he can spend the most time with them. About how Kaamari wants to adopt because they’re uncomfortable with the body they were born with. But they both still want kids. Just not necessarily marriage. So, Kaamari was a little more than surprised when Bokang said “we should get married”. Granted, he also thought it was kidding when Bokang said he loves Kaamari first. With the casual proposal, Kaamari had a lot of questions but overall saw how Bokang is the person they’ve been searching for their whole life. He’s the epitome of “husband material” and has shown Kaamari the greatest love he’s ever known. So it wasn’t hard at all to say “yeah, we should get married.”
