Kayma moved to college at UNL to study Biology. Meanwhile, Grant was studying engineering at UNL. It seemed both Grant and Kayma had bad luck finding someone worthwhile on Tinder, funny enough. What started as a normal conversation like any other eventually turned into Grant asking Kayma if she liked Avenged Sevenfold, as there was something about it in her Tinder bio. After some more conversing, they decided to go on a date. They planned on meeting at Ivanna Cone at 7pm on a fall evening. Kayma accidentally turned her phone on airplane mode, and was wondering why Grant had yet to reach out to her. Grant, on the other hand, made the assumption he was getting ditched. Hours after their date should have began, Kayma gave up and went to grab dinner and realized her phone had been on airplane mode and Grant was trying to reach her. An hour later, Grant visited her at her dorm room for the first time since the building was on lockdown (no joke, because of supposed clowns with chainsaws on campus). Kayma, her roommate Maddie, and their friend Cyan had some other friends over, including Grant that night. They played Cards Against Humanity, watched movies, and Grant helped Kayma with her math homework. Kayma fell asleep, and hours later, woke up and noticed everyone else was asleep too. She realized Grant was still there, and thought that was pretty special on its own. For the next two weeks, Grant and Kayma spent nearly every day together. On the third week, they made their relationship official. From there on, they have shared many adventures, laughs, memories, and have endured really anything you could imagine.
It was a Thursday afternoon, and Kayma and Grant's sister Laura went to Hobby Lobby to do some shopping. Meanwhile, Grant was back at home preparing a fall-themed layout on the back porch. With the help of Pam Bruneau's artsy skills and Laura's distracting, Grant was able to prepare a beautiful scene. When Kayma and Laura returned home, Kayma noticed a blanket on the counter top. It was strange, as she had never seen it before, but Laura seemed in a hurry to get to the back door. She grabbed Kayma's hand and told her to close her eyes, and Kayma knew immediately what was happening. Grant was standing outside with a bouquet of beautiful fall flowers, surrounded by candles, haybales, and pumpkins that read, "Will you marry me?". It was then that their journey together took the next biggest leap. Grant got down on one knee and popped the question, all while Laura made sure to capture the moment on camera!
