It's located about 30 minutes outside the city, and several international airlines offer direct flights there, making it an easy trip. For our New York residents, Avianca is the only airline that flies directly into Medellín from JFK.

Most businesses in Colombia operate exclusively in Colombian Pesos (COP). If you plan to use cash during your stay, we strongly recommend exchanging your dollars for pesos upon arrival. You'll find currency exchange services readily available at the airport and throughout Medellín. Credit and debit cards are also widely accepted throughout the city. For most purchases, using your card will be the easiest and most convenient option. To avoid unnecessary fees, please ensure you use a credit or debit card that does not charge foreign transaction fees and/or notify your bank of your travel plans to avoid any issues.
