Kaylie always says she started eyeing Dion on his first day of pharmacy school when their classes crossed paths in the hallway — seriously though, how could it NOT be love at first sight?! They officially met at a pharmacy school social event where Kaylie’s job was to recruit new students to a professional organization, and Dion was pretty easily convinced. Their relationship started as a friendship for the first year and a half, until later blossoming into more when they started flirting at a classmate’s Christmas party and agreed to hang out alone afterwards — thus, the start of this great adventure.

A weekend roadtrip to Saint Louis started as a family visit, and ended with a new addition to the family. Dion and Kaylie decided to take advantage of the beautiful, sunny Halloween afternoon by visiting the Gateway Arch National Park. After seeing the city from the very top, they explored the surrounding grounds and Kaylie set up her tripod to get a couple photos of them both with the Arch in the background. As the camera was on a timer taking photos every few seconds, Dion started talking about how he loved Kaylie and wanted to spend the rest of his life with her. Joking, she responded, “Babe are you proposing to me?!” just as he got down on one knee. This moment between just the two of them will forever be cherished, and they will always be able to look back at the surprise and excitement captured in about a hundred photos on a loop.

Chicago has only been our home for three years, but it holds a special place in our hearts — this was our first trip together, where Dion asked Kaylie to officially be his girlfriend; it was our second home together where we became city people in a tiny high-rise studio apartment; and where we fall more in love with each other as we continue to build our life here. We cannot wait to show our closest friends and family around our town and all the amazing things summertime Chi has to offer!
