We're Getting Married!

We like to joke that our love story could be a romantic comedy – except it’s not a joke, it’s real life. Spence was my UPS driver, delivering packages to my office every day. Think “Legally Blonde” minus the bend-and-snap. Our meet-cute felt like it was straight out of a movie… and if I’m being honest, that was probably the only way to my heart. I’m a Disney-classics-loving, wedding-obsessed, hopeless romantic. I’m a “can’t eat, can’t sleep, shoot-for-the-stars, over-the-fence, World Series kind of stuff” kind of girl. Can you blame me? I grew up in the ‘90s – I was holding out for a Jack + Rose 4EVR kind of love. And Spence was the Leo DiCaprio-prince charming I was dreaming of. I literally manifested the love of my life walking into my office like a scripted character straight out of a rom com. Once word got out that I had a crush on the UPS guy, all bets were off. My coworkers conspired against me and started ordering packages every. single. day. Just to make sure Spence and I saw each other – and so they could witness every flirty, painfully awkward encounter. But thanks to their persistence – and a little liquid courage (I asked Spence out!) – we started dating and instantly hit it off. Then, just one month in, Spence took our not-even-official relationship to the next level and came to me with a wild question: “I have to pick out all my vacation dates for the entire next year… TODAY. Do you want to pick them with me – and maybe travel the world together?” I panicked – because I PLAN for a living and this was very much NOT on my calendar – but after the initial shock wore off, I gave the only possible answer: “OMG YES!” Once we picked our vacation dates for the year ahead, we began planning our trip around the world… until a global pandemic hit six months later and brought everything to a halt. You know those moments in romantic comedies when one character hides something to protect the other, and everything comes crashing down? That was our plot twist: the global pandemic. Fast-forward through grounded flights, social distancing, and the world coming to a complete stop… we made it through stronger than ever. We learned to compromise, figured out our communication styles and love languages, and tackled the unexpected – together. We had plenty of time to dream, plan, and build anticipation (and multiple vision boards!) for the adventures to come. Since then, we have explored countless cities, traveled through multiple countries, and made unforgettable memories. And now, after all those adventures, we’re about to start the greatest one yet: saying “I do” in a beautiful Hawaiian paradise, surrounded by our closest friends and family. Our story isn’t just a rom com – it’s real life. And this is only the beginning.
