Questions & Recommendations

Question

Where should I stay?

Answer

We've negotiated special rates with Ana y Jose. It's right on the beach, has several types of rooms, and our concierge will help you with anything you need during your stay. Plus it's also a beach club, which means food and margaritas are always close by :) There are other options listed in our travel section that are also great! We recommend staying on the Beach Road in the Hotel Zone - it'll be more convenient to get around because everything is just a short walk away. If you have any questions, you can ask our wedding planner (Barb) and she'll be able to give you recommendations and advice.

Question

Is Ana y Jose all-inclusive?

Answer

No - only breakfast is included. You can choose a daily all-inclusive option for $150 or pay as you go. Check out the menus here: https://www.anayjose.com/en/menu/ There are so many restaurants and bars within walking distance, so we highly recommend exploring different places! You can also stop at a grocery store (Chedraui) on your shuttle in to Tulum. All rooms have at least a mini fridge. Dreams Tulum is an all-inclusive option, however, it is about 45 minutes from our venue and we are unable to provide transportation.

Question

When should I book my stay?

Answer

If you are staying at Ana y Jose, you can book your stay any time. There is a limited number of each room type, so if you would like an ocean-view or a two-bedroom room, the sooner the better. If booking elsewhere, note that November is "peak season", so you'll want to book at least a few months in advance.

Question

How do I get around?

Answer

If you're staying on the Beach Road, there are TONS of places within walking distance - restaurants, shops, cafes, beach clubs, you name it! Bikes and scooters are also easy to rent. There are no Uber's or Lyft's in Tulum, but taxis are everywhere. The concierge at Ana y Jose will happily arrange a taxi for you! You will need to book a shuttle to and from the airport (see Travel section). Rental cars are also an option - contact us if you'd like more information.

Question

Is Tulum safe?

Answer

Tulum has the lowest crime rate in all of Mexico. The locals understand how much tourism boosts their economy and are very welcoming to travelers! Of course, you should exercise common sense when traveling in the Tulum area: lock your doors, keep your passport in a safe, be mindful of your valuables, don't walk alone at night, etc.

Question

What is the currency in Tulum?

Answer

Most bars, restaurants, and stores accept credit cards, but we recommend bringing cash for things like taxis and tips. You can exchange your cash for Mexican Pesos, but nearly all people/places are perfectly fine with USD. Make sure your bank is aware that you're traveling and check for international transaction fees.

Question

How do I get to the wedding venue?

Answer

We will have shuttles going between Ana y Jose and NU for our guests.

Question

Do I need to attend all of the events?

Answer

No! This is your vacation as much as it is our wedding. If you have other plans and can't attend either the Welcome Party or Morning After, no problem. Please RSVP accordingly so we can accurately plan.
