We first met on March 1, 2019, in Raleigh, North Carolina. Kayla was attending a concert while Noah was at his friend William’s apartment, and our story began in the most unexpected way, with Noah teasing Kayla about her East Carolina University sweatshirt and questioning why she would ever go there. What started as playful banter quickly turned into something much more, and by the summer of 2019, we were inseparable, spending as much time together as possible. In August, Kayla headed off to begin her freshman year at East Carolina University while Noah returned to Wake Tech to continue his second year of college. Just a few months later, in January 2020, Noah transferred to East Carolina University, bringing us back together again. Since we started dating, we have been side by side through so many milestones, Kayla’s high school graduation, both of our college journeys and graduations, and now, as we look ahead to Noah’s upcoming graduation from High Point University, School of Law in May 2027. Neither of us could have imagined that when Noah asked Kayla to be his girlfriend on May 15, 2019, it would lead to a proposal almost seven years later. On November 28, 2025, what began as a simple family photo session at Roanoke Island Festival Park turned into the engagement of Kayla’s dreams. With the help of her maid of honor, Brooke, and bridesmaid, Taylor, Noah planned the perfect surprise. The celebration didn’t stop there, he followed it with an engagement dinner surrounded by family and friends at the very restaurant where we had our first date. We are beyond excited to celebrate the start of our next chapter with you on August 1, 2026, as we become Mr. and Mrs. Doughtie.
