How we met Our journey together began on a crisp fall day at the Rochester Institute of Technology (RIT), where we both studied software engineering. It was during the Society of Software Engineering (SSE) annual scavenger hunt for new students—a fun event designed to help us explore the campus and learn more about our field. Kayla was excited to dive into the scavenger hunt advising a team of freshmen, eager to uncover all the hidden gems RIT had to offer. Little did she know, fate had something special planned. Matt, her now-fiancé, was the designated photographer for the event, tasked with capturing all the memorable moments. With his camera in hand and a keen eye for detail, he followed the team around, snapping pictures and documenting their adventure. The hunt took them into the RIT library and, ironically, despite Matt being an avid reader himself, had never set foot in the library. That day, however, was different. Intrigued by the excitement and perhaps by something else he couldn't quite put his finger on, he followed Kayla's team into the library. It was there, amidst the stacks of books and the quiet hum of knowledge, that their paths truly crossed. Matt's presence was charming, genuine, and quickly caught her attention. Kayla & Matt spent the rest of the scavenger hunt laughing, exploring, and sharing stories, and by the end of the day, it was clear we had formed a special connection. So, they found something unexpected during that scavenger hunt in college... love and the beginnings of a beautiful future. The journey since From that day forward, our lives became intertwined. We navigated the challenges of college together, from late-night programming sessions (where Matt was the head of mentoring which made studying a breeze) and little projects in our software society to celebrating our achievements and milestones. They were truly inseparable, spending each day together, going out together, or staying in and playing video games, at all times just really enjoying each other's company. Their shared love for technology and adventure only brought us closer. After graduation, their bond grew even stronger as they embarked on new careers and adventures in California. Whether it was traveling to new places--all across the country from Route 1 to Route 101 and everything in between, or simply enjoying a an evening home snuggling our pup Luna, every moment we spent together reinforced their love and commitment to each other. The proposal Fast forward to a magical weekend in South Lake Tahoe. After a few days of fun and excitement, Matt proposed on the last morning of the trip. On a snow-covered beach, he got down on one knee and asked Kayla to spend the rest of her life with him. It was a perfect, serene moment that beautifully captured the essence of their relationship. Of course, I said yes! Our future As we prepare to embark on this next chapter of our lives, we are filled with excitement and joy. Our wedding is not just a celebration of our love, but also a testament to the journey we've shared and the adventures that lie ahead. We are incredibly grateful for the love and support of our family and friends, and we can't wait to celebrate this special day with all of you.
