There are limited options for staying in Avon, and we can't recommend any of them. but it's only about 25 minutes from St. Cloud, where there are many nice lodging options! There are a few Airbnbs in the area, as well. It is homecoming weekend at St. John's/St. Ben's that weekend, so lodging will fill up quickly. For anyone who is interested, free camping will be available at the Folk School after the wedding (Saturday night only). If you're interested, please get in touch with us to arrange a time to set up. There are very limited public transit options for getting from the MSP airport to the St. Cloud Area, so we recommend renting a car. We will list below some of our favorite things in the area that you can check out before the wedding on Saturday if you're getting in to town early!

Travel Note

Wildwood County Park

Right on the way out to the Folk School! This is one of our all-time favorite trails in the area for a beautiful walk in the woods. Also happens to be where our engagement photos were taken...in -5 degree windchill weather!

Travel Note

Flour & Flower Bakery

Stop for breakfast, coffee, pastries, or lunch! This is our favorite local bakery and they do coffee right, too. Erin's pies are famous. But Laura's favorite is the morning bun or a simple but perfectly executed Hope butter croissant.

Travel Note

Krewe Restaurant

If you decide to go to Krewe for dinner Friday, lunch on Saturday, or brunch on Sunday, definitely be sure to make a reservation, as they will be busy for homecoming weekend. This is our favorite restaurant in the area -- a chef-owned, classy place with great food and beverages. Our favorites are the brabant potatoes, fried brussels sprouts, vegetarian red beans and rice, and the dinner rolls. For dessert, you can't go wrong with the bread pudding or their signature key lime pie.

Travel Note

Milk & Honey Ciders

Delicious ciders in a beautiful setting in the Avon Hills.

Travel Note

Bravo Burrito!

A St. Cloud classic. Can't go wrong with any burrito on the menu.

Travel Note

Bo Diddley's Deli!

Downtown St. Joe staple. Their subs are renowned in this area!

Travel Note

Schuman Lake Road

If you come to the folk school from I-94 or St Joseph, you can take the scenic route down County Rd. 51, then after a couple turns you'll drive along one of the most beautiful roads around the area--Schuman Lake Rd. Especially with fall foliage, it is absolutely stunning.

For all the days along the way
