We were first introduced by way of Kayla's best friend/Matron of Honor Isabella and her husband Brett back in June 2021. Kyrien and Brett work on the same squad for Arlington County Police Department. During a long car transport, Brett asked Kyrien if he was seeing anyone to which he replied "no". Brett then showed Kyrien a picture of Kayla and Kyrien replied, "she's cute". And as men do, they went back to riding in silence. Meanwhile, Isabella excitedly told Kayla "OMG we have a man for you!". So, numbers were exchanged via Isabella and Brett and thus started our first text thread (that hasn't stopped since). During our first conversation, Kyrien mentioned he was working overtime and was close by to Kayla's apartment. He asked if Kayla could meet him out front to meet for the FIRST time face to face. Mind you, it was 9pm and Kayla was already bare faced and in sweats so naturally she told him "no, I look like a potato. This can't be our first time we meet in person." To which Kyrien replied "it's okay, I like french fries". That was the moment Kayla knew that this guy just might be different. So she went down stairs and they went on to have a 2 hour conversation in front of her apartment building. Two days later, we had our first date at Mazaro in Arlington (which is also the bar-style background in our engagement photos). Kyrien was on time, Kayla was 45 minutes late. So late that Kyrien had a whole meatball appetizer while he waited for her. Luckily, he patiently waited and the rest of the date was magical. We've spent everyday talking, laughing and enjoying quality time together ever since.
