The Flint Farmers’ Market is a vibrant indoor/outdoor market with tons of local vendors offering everything from fresh produce and baked goods to BBQ, Mediterranean food, lunch meats, cheeses, popcorn, juice, coffee, and ice cream. Whether you're grabbing a bite to eat, picking up a local treat, or just exploring, it's a great way to experience a taste of Flint!

Applewood is one of our favorite places, especially on a crisp fall day! This beautiful 64-acre estate was once the home of automotive pioneer Charles Stewart Mott and was designed with family and hospitality in mind. Stroll through the gardens, orchard, and original farm buildings, or join a guided tour to learn more about Flint’s rich history. With your visit timed perfectly for the start of fall, it’s the perfect spot for a peaceful walk, cozy photo ops, and maybe even a seasonal event. Definitely worth a visit while you're in town!

One of our family’s weekend traditions, Dom’s Diner is a charming, old-fashioned spot with a welcoming vibe and amazing staff that make you feel right at home. Want to try Kayla, Jamier, and Jasmine’s favorites? Kayla: Paul Bunyan Breakfast with eggs over medium, crispy bacon, hashbrowns, and a golden waffle, all served with hot coffee. Jamier: Monte Crisco with sausage or the Paul Bunyan Breakfast with scrambled eggs, bacon or sausage, and hashbrowns, served with hot tea. Bronner’s is the world’s largest Christmas store, filled wall-to-wall with dazzling decorations, lights, ornaments, and holiday magic year-round. They always have Christmas music playing to get you in the spirit, and you can even grab a personalized ornament or stocking to take a little holiday cheer home with you. It’s like stepping into a winter wonderland no matter the season, and the perfect place to soak up some festive joy. Plus, it’s right in our backyard, so it’s a must-visit if you’re in the area!

Looking for something a little out of this world? Check out Longway Planetarium—Michigan’s largest and most technologically advanced planetarium! From star shows and laser light experiences to live astronomy presentations, it’s a great spot for all ages to kick back, look up, and explore the universe. If you’re in town for the wedding weekend, don’t miss Skies Over Michigan, showing daily Tuesday through Sunday at 3 p.m. This live planetarium lecture takes you on a guided tour of the Michigan night sky—learn how to spot constellations, planets, and even the North Star right from your own backyard. Don’t forget to grab a sky guide in the lobby before the show! (Recommended for ages 10+ and please note, there’s no late seating, so be sure to arrive a little early.)

Crossroads Village is a charming, historical gem where you can step back in time and explore a 1900s-era Great Lakes town, complete with 34 preserved buildings, working artisans, an old-time carousel, and even the Huckleberry Railroad for a scenic train ride. It’s one of the most unique attractions in the area! Although it will be closed during our wedding week, it reopens the weekend after for its Halloween-themed “Ghosts & Goodies” events, running throughout October. During this fun-filled event, guests can enjoy friendly ghosts, tasty treats, and seasonal favorites like cider and donuts. There are 20 trick-or-treating stops, a straw maze, and a magic show in the Colwell Opera House, all included with admission. Don’t miss the Huckleberry Ghost Train Express, a 40-minute scenic ride through the autumn countryside with spooky surprises around every corner. It’s a magical, family-friendly way to celebrate the season and make memories that will last a lifetime.
