We suggest exchanging USD for pesos before your trip. ATMs dispense pesos but check for fees. Fees are less when the ATM is connected to a local bank. Pesos preferred for payments - banks are limiting the number of transactions allowed so vendors can’t always exchange USD for pesos themselves. Right now the exchange rate is approx 1 USD to 20 pesos. Fortunately the exchange rate has been fairly steady. Super Chedraui is a supermarket in the La Colonia side of town, on the other side of the Highway 307. No Covid Test Necessary At Tijuana Land Crossing/Save On Flight Prices

Crossing into Tijuana through the Cross Border Express and flying TJ/Cancun could save you on flight cost and does not require a negative Covid test. Returning to the US requires proof of vaccination but no Covid test.
