Our Story

Kayla and Brandon both attended the University of Idaho (Go Vandals!), but didn’t meet until the end of Kayla’s junior year in 2019. Kayla swam for U of I and was friends with two cross country runners who happened to live with Brandon. Spring of 2019, Brandon started tagging along and coming to the “swim parties”, and that is where they first met. The following summer of 2019, Kayla stayed up in Moscow to train, and Brandon needed someone to look after his plant while he went down to southern Idaho to work at the sand dunes. One of the other swimmers told Brandon that Kayla was the most responsible, and Kayla agreed to watch the plant. Kayla named the plant Eddie, and sent Brandon update videos on the plant all summer. In the end, Kayla ended up killing the plant (apparently she is not responsible when it comes to plants), but a great friendship turned into a great dating relationship. Brandon and Kayla dated all of her senior year, and when it came time to graduate and head off to nursing school, they decided to date long distance, as Brandon still had one year left at U of I. Though it was a hard year, the distance made the relationship stronger and helped them appreciate all the little things. Kayla graduated nursing school in 2021 and took a job at University of Florida’s Shands Hospital on a Pediatric Oncology and Hematology unit. Brandon decided to follow the girl and move down to Florida as well, where he landed a dream job as a Fish and Wildlife game warden. They have both been enjoying the new adventure in Florida and love to spend time outdoors hiking, camping, and paddle boarding with their dog, Finn. After dating for over five years, Brandon finally popped the question on a camping trip up in Georgia at Providence Canyon State Park. (Funny story: their dog, Finn, decided that he needed to poop right before the proposal, so when Brandon went to propose, he had to chuck the poop bag to the side so it wouldn’t be in the pictures!) Kayla said yes (of course) and the rest is history. We can’t wait for everyone we love to all be in one place for our wedding!
