We met during a party for a mutual friend in late March of 2017 in Brooklyn. Because of fate or coincidence, we each barely knew anyone at the party and gravitated towards a conversation that lasted through the night thanks to our shared connections to NYU Stern. Kayla was an employee of Stern at the time, and Abraham had recently graduated. No numbers were exchanged at the party, so when Abraham received a LinkedIn request from Kayla asking him for his email, he thought it was part of a school fundraising effort. Fortunately for Abraham, Kayla had a different charity effort in mind - asking him out! That Friday, we bar-hopped and danced through the East Village, sipping tiki drinks and ending the evening with a kiss. By Sunday, Abraham had tagged along on Kayla's jog, and soon we were meeting for after-work wine and Joe's pizza. Abraham asked Kayla to make it official on May 14, 2017. The next year was filled with long-distance dating - Upper Manhattan to Williamsburg - and adventures overseas. By May, we had found a place to share on the Upper East Side. Just a few months later, we found Louie, a big-eared rescue mutt from Dallas. Abraham made it extra-official and proposed to Kayla on November 9, 2019, in the midst of a hike on the Appalachian Trail. And that is the abridged version of how a Jew from the Midwest and a Catholic from Puerto Rico fell madly in love. We can't wait to celebrate with friends and family in Brooklyn in November 2021!
