Please aim to arrive by 2:30pm as the ceremony starts promptly at 3pm. Doors will be open from 2pm but if you need to arrive earlier and/or need a place to freshen up, change, or eat you will be able to go to The Stables Tearoom on the venue grounds as early as 9am.
A suit, tux, gown, cocktail dress, pantsuit, or dressy separates. Bridesmaids will be in sage green. Please also make sure to bring warm outerwear as it will be cold outside in March.
All of the wedding events (ceremony, cocktails, dinner, etc) will be held indoors at the same venue but you're welcome to explore the grounds at any time.
Bloody cold. It's Northern England in late March (during the spring equinox) with an avg high of 53° F and low of 37° F (high 11°C / low 3° C). However, England is highly unpredictable and it could snow, rain, hail, thunderstorm, or be hot and sunny all in the same day. Who knows. But definitely bring warm outerwear. There will be a coat check at the venue which will be nice and toasty once you're inside.
Carlton Towers was designed in the Gothic Revival style and sports two grand halls, several lounge and bar areas, a clocktower, 250 acres of parkland, a livestock farm, tearoom, vineyard, and gardens. The venue dates back to 1086, originally owned by Robert de Brus. The current owners, Lord and Lady Gerald Fitzalan Howard's family can trace ownership back to 1301. Over the past 700 years, it has seen a rich history including the Kings of Jerusalem crusaders and knights who fell on the fields of Bannockburn. The current building was erected in 1614 and designed by the same architect who designed the Houses of Parliament.
