It all started with an over-the-top karaoke performance of Rasputin. Sarang, ever the dramatist, chose this of all songs at a common friend's graduation party, where the two officially met. Kavya denies that this stole her heart, but we all know that no one can resist Boney M in a repurposed fire house. Regardless, Kavya and Sarang's story started with friendship as they instantly bonded over their love for India, animated movies, and goofy jokes. But over the course of their first year at the University of Washington, that friendship slowly but surely grew into something more. They made it official at the end of their freshman year, and their relationship grew stronger over the course of their time at UW. After graduation, Kavya went off to attend medical school at WSU in Spokane, while Sarang started work in the Bay Area. While long distance tested them, they came out of it stronger than ever. In 2022 the two jetted off to skyscraper-strewn Chicago for Kavya's residency and Sarang's graduate school. And just when it seemed like the two would never get hitched, Sarang proposed to Kavya in snowy Grant Park on December 31, 2023. Just under a year later, on December 26, 2024, in beautiful Vijayawada, India, the two officially tied the knot (and put jaggery and cumin on each other's heads, and exchanged garlands, and exchanged rings, and—you get the picture). And thus Sarang and Kavya became one!
