Nate and Chelsea met in 2015 at Indiana University on a ride while training for the world famous Little 500 bicycle race. They quickly became friends and riding buddies, but it was not until Chelsea’s senior year that they became more than friends. After dancing the night away at Chelsea’s sorority formal (yes, she made the first move), the two ended the night at the infamous Kilroy’s Sports Bar, where they had their first kiss under the strobe lights and fog machines of the Jungle. After Chelsea graduated and moved to Chicago, they dated long distance while Nate finished college. Distance was hard, but their relationship grew stronger over frequent visits and Game of Thrones Skype dates. Nevertheless, they looked forward to being in the same city together and counted the days until Nate’s graduation. Soon after Nate moved home, the two moved in together in Lincoln Park and began their Chicago adventure. It was in this first apartment that they spent time cooking, hosting friends and family, exploring through runs and long walks, and eventually adopted their loving cat, Ivy (named after the famous Wrigley Field Ivy). In the winter of 2020, Nate decided to ‘pop the question’ and proposed to Chelsea on Christmas Eve in Nate’s hometown, Glen Ellyn. Despite below freezing temperatures, the couple took a short walk to the picturesque Lake Ellyn. It was there that Nate got on one knee and Chelsea said “yes!” In the spring of 2021, Chelsea and Nate made the tough, yet exciting, decision to move to Denver, CO to seek new outdoor adventures. Their love of hiking and the outdoors was always a mutual interest and moving to Colorado was something they had long talked about. While they have not been in Denver long, they already feel it is one of the best decisions they have made as a couple. Nate and Chelsea are excited to return to Chicago to celebrate their wedding with family and friends from around the country, and start a new, exciting chapter as husband and wife.
