It was the night before Super Bowl LIII when Julien made a last minute decision to journey from his Harlem Bunker to the Upper East Side. Katy swore she was only going out for one drink to celebrate her roommate’s new job. Hours later, she found herself at the infamous Stumble Inn pong tables. Fueled by a few too many Green Tea Shots and boneless buffalo wings, Katy was running the table. Julien found solace & entertainment watching the games and the loud blonde wearing a leather jacket. With every win, she shouted “Let’s Go Pats” and “I want Julian Edelman!” in preparation for game day. Hearing this, Julien took his chance and said “Well, my name is Julien.” It’s a little blurry after that but we nursed our headaches with a Patriots Super Bowl win, Edelman being named MVP, and quickly realizing we had just stumbled inn to love.

After searching for hours, we finally found our tiny Christmas tree and headed home. Julien got straight to work on some Old Fashioneds and Katy started getting all the decorations situated. In the spirit of Christmas, Katy suggested turning on some festive tunes but Julien was adamant about popping on Leon Bridges’ album - Good Thing. All day, Katy had a sense that “today was it” and the minute he pushed back, it had sealed the deal. To hide her excitement, she decided it was the perfect time to sweep the whole apartment, ruining Julien’s original plan to propose during ‘Beyond’. He swiftly switched gears and decided moving to the couch was the next best option. At this point, Katy was trying not to laugh because it was becoming increasingly obvious but played along with the charade. He finally got her to put the broom away and sit - to sip their cocktails and enjoy the rest of the album. Just as she got settled, Katy glanced at the clock and jumped up, realizing they were running behind feeding Piper. As she turned back around, Julien brought her in for a big hug and got down on one knee. We spent the rest of the night eating Babbalucci pizza, laughing, and practicing our first dance with Piper at our feet. It was perfect. We’re so excited to start this next chapter of our lives with all our favorite people... See you on the Island!
