Thorton Gap entrance station is about 35 minutes west of Culpeper and you can take Skyline Drive north or south from there. You can check out the website for entrance fees, maps, and hikes. Our wedding day (Sept. 24th) is National Public Lands day - this means you can get into the park for FREE if you want to do a quick hike or drive in the morning!
Old Rag is probably the most well known hike in the Shenandoah area! It's about 8-9 miles round trip and involves some light boulder-hopping/scrambling. Shenandoah NPS has created a day-use ticket system for Old Rag permits, so please check out their website (linked here) in order to plan your hike.
Davis St. in downtown Culpeper has many shops, restaurants, and breweries nearby. Foti's Restaurant, Grill 309, and It's About Thyme are tasty options and you could follow it with a beer at Far Gohn brewery!
