We first met at a dive bar in Eugene in September 2013. Katy ended up alone at a table while her friend Jessica went to get a refill, and Daniel came over to keep her company. The conversation flowed effortlessly and eventually ended up on the subject of modern dating. Katy admitted she'd never been on a real date, which gave Daniel the opening he'd been waiting for—he made her promise to let him take her out to dinner the next weekend, and to let him pay. By the end of the month it was official, and year and a half later, they moved in together. In January 2018, Daniel gathered Katy's closest family and friends at a local wine bar to surprise her with a ring and a very important question. (Spoiler: she said yes!)
