O'Hare is the larger of the two airports in Chicago (the other being Midway.) Most major airlines fly to O'Hare (except Southwest.) O'Hare is large, and security lines can be long. We encourage you to give yourself adequate time to get through security and to your gate. O'Hare is located northwest of the city, approximately 35 miles from St Charles. If you choose to drive between St. Charles and O'Hare, we recommend at least an hour for travel time. O'Hare is also connected to the subway. The CTA Blue Line ends at O'Hare, so you can take the blue line into the city to explore or to get on the Metra (commuter) train out to St Charles.
Flight
Midway is the smaller of the two airports in Chicago (the other being O'Hare.) Southwest is the primary airline that flies in/out of Midway. Midway is smaller than O'Hare, and security lines are generally OK (though we make no promises!) Midway is located southwest of the city, approximately 45 miles from St Charles. If you choose to drive between St. Charles and Midway, we recommend at least 75 minutes for travel time. Midway is also connected to the subway. The CTA Orange Line ends at Midway, so you can take the Orange Line into the city to explore or to get on the Metra (commuter) train out to St Charles.
Train
Metra (commuter rail) trains depart from Ogilvie Transportation Center (downtown Chicago, labeled "Chicago OTC" in the schedule link below). You can take the Union Pacific West line to the Geneva stop, which is an 8-10 minute drive from downtown St. Charles. Tickets can be purchased at the station or on your phone using the Ventra app. (Not a typo - the app is called "Ventra".) The station has ticket vending machines if the tellers are closed or the lines are long. Worst case, you can also pay in cash on the train for $5 extra. Fun fact: it is legal to drink alcohol in the Metra trains, and there are often vendors inside Ogilvie. Metra trains run on a set schedule. We encourage you to check the schedule ahead of time, as trains only run every 2 hours on Saturdays and Sundays. The link below takes you to the schedule site:

You can also use it to get close to Ogilvie Transportation Center, if you're interested in taking the Metra commuter line out to St. Charles. The closest Blue Line stop to Ogilvie is the Clark/Lake stop.
