We always love visiting the lighthouse when we are on the island. There is a small entry fee that grants you access to the wonderful museum and to the top of the lighthouse!
A stroll down Mallery Street in the Village is a great way to spend part of your day. There are a few cute shops, restaurants, and St. Simons Sweets which has the BEST ice cream! You can also stop in the bait and tackle shop to rent/buy all your fishing needs before casting a line off the pier.
One of our favorite places to visit on St. Simons. We love walking around the beautiful grounds of the old fort after getting a history lesson inside the museum. Great for adults AND kids!
Picturesque and historical church among the live oaks of St. Simons Island. We also love stopping by if traveling to the northern part of the island.
The award-winning course is renowned for its challenging layout amongst ancient forests, vast salt marshes, dramatic island holes and comfortable clubhouse.
East Beach is one of two public beaches on St. Simons Island and is by far the most popular beach area. This spot features the widest beaches, public facilities, and plentiful parking. On the northern end of the beach is Gould’s Inlet, a popular spot for bird-watching and fishing, with views of Sea Island. Just south of the inlet, you’ll find the historic Coast Guard Station and World War II Home Front Museum.
On the northern tip of East Beach, at the end of Bruce Drive, is Gould’s Inlet. Not your typical beach destination, but rather a fantastic area for bird watching, fishing, and taking in the ocean views.
Massengale Park is the island’s second public beach and is a relaxed shady coastal spot that’s perfect for families with young children. The park is situated just south of East Beach along Ocean Boulevard between the Coast Guard Station and the King and Prince Beach Resort. Facilities here include a picnic area and grills shaded by mature live oaks, a children’s playground, public restrooms, open beach access, and plenty of parking. The park is pet-friendly so the entire family can join in on the fun.
Located on the southern end of the island in the shadow of the St. Simons Lighthouse, this oceanfront, pet-friendly park is a great alternative option to the island’s two public beaches. Featuring a strolling path between the St. Simons Fishing Pier and Pier Village areas, it’s very easy to explore.
