Roger Williams Park Zoo
We love our zoo! From the elephants to the big brass dog, we've both spent our childhood and adult life walking the paths, visiting the monkey house, and popping in to see Aunt Jen. Plus, there's a huge historic carousel, massive gardens, and swan boats, so you can make a day of it!
RISD Museum
The RISD museum has a massive collection of historic and contemporary art, and there's a ton of cool places to eat nearby on College Hill. Under 18 is free admission!
Newport
More than just a Navy town! Tanner first lived here when he moved to RI, and it remains a favorite place to visit. Walk the Cliff Walk and see the historic mansions, visit Newport Vineyards for a glass of wine, window shop at Bowen's Wharf, or check out the National Museum of American Illustration to get your Norman Rockwell fix.
Federal Hill
The best place in the state for Italian food. For a casual meal, Caserta's Pizzeria is no frills and a Lysik Family Favorite. Pick up fresh cheese from Venda, grab dessert from Pastiche, and listen to live music out in the piazza. If you're looking for vegetarian/vegan food, Grange is only one street over.
A Katie-Tanner Date Night
Recreate our typical high school date night-- splitting a regular fry from the nearby Five Guys and then window shopping for hours in the local Barnes and Noble that Tanner later proposed in! Bonus points if you spent an inordinate amount of time in the Sci-Fi/Fantasy section.
