Things To Do

When people are visiting Colorado, they always ask me, "Where should I go in Denver while I'm here?" My response is always the same... don't go to Denver. Most of our recommendations for things to do are outside of Denver, because if you want to experience Colorado for what it is, you have to leave the city! But, we'll include some spots in Denver that are fun too!
Golden Farmers Market

Golden Farmers Market

10th Street, Golden, CO 80401

For an unforgettable slice of local culture pre-wedding, head to the Golden Farmers Market. Nestled against the stunning backdrop of the Rocky Mountain foothills, this vibrant Saturday morning gathering is the perfect "Colorado casual" experience for you. Stroll through rows of fresh, locally grown produce, artisan-baked goods, and handmade crafts while enjoying live music and the crisp mountain air. It’s more than just a market; it’s a lively, scenic escape where your friends and family can sip local coffee, meet the community, and soak in the authentic, laid-back charm that makes Golden the perfect setting. It’s the ultimate way to recharge and connect before the big event!

The Golden Mill

The Golden Mill

1012 Ford Street, Golden, CO 80401

Located right in downtown Golden along the banks of Clear Creek, The Golden Mill is a lively, historic flour mill turned modern food and drink hall that serves up a quintessential Colorado experience. It features a massive, sun-drenched rooftop patio with sweeping views of the foothills, making it a perfect social hub for groups. Guests can explore two expansive self-pour tap walls featuring local craft beers and ciders, alongside five diverse, foodie-approved culinary stations. King of Wings

King of Wings

1100 Arapahoe Street, Golden, CO 80401

For the ultimate foodie experience and hands-down the best wings in town, make a detour to King of Wings in Wheat Ridge or their Taphouse location in King of Wings (Golden). This local legend is famous for award-winning, flame-grilled chicken wings that are roasted and finished on the grill for an incredible smoky char and perfect crispness. Alongside standout sauces, they serve up spectacular sides—including their famous, extra-crispy lemon pepper fries and thick-cut, golden-brown onion rings. Paired with a killer craft beer selection, it's a high-energy, casual hangout that shows exactly why local foodies rave about it.

Evergreen Lake

Evergreen Lake

Evergreen, CO 80439

For a true mountain getaway vibe just a short drive into the foothills, Evergreen Lake is an absolute gem for a wedding weekend itinerary. This stunning 40-acre alpine lake is surrounded by pine-covered mountains and frequently visited by local elk herds, making it a postcard-perfect spot for guests to explore. Visitors can stretch their legs on the easy 1.3-mile nature trail that loops the perimeter and connects directly to the boardwalk shops and cafes of historic downtown Evergreen. For those wanting to get on the water, the historic log-and-stone boat house offers canoe, kayak, and paddleboard rentals to take in the scenery from the center of the lake. It’s a beautifully serene, quintessentially Colorado escape that gives out-of-towners a taste of the Rockies without a massive trek into the high country.
