We love living in Oakland, in part because of how close we are to so many activities! If you're planning to have some free time while you're in town, here are some fun things to do!
Lake Merritt

We love Lake Merritt for lazy days outdoors. Pack a picnic or pick up food at a restaurant along Lakeshore Ave. You can also enjoy bird watching at the preserve or rent a paddle boat for a few hours on the water.

We would be remiss if we didn't remind our guests that San Francisco is about 12 miles away from Oakland. Explore China Town, shop in Union Square, or hike Lands End. You can get to the city by driving across the Bay Bridge, taking a ferry from Jack London Square, or by riding BART.
