Things To Do

Georgia Aquarium

225 Baker Street Northwest, Atlanta, GA 30313

The only place you can see a whale shark in the western hemisphere! The aquarium is a must-see in Atlanta. It's a little pricey at $55.00, but it's more than worth it. Open 365 days a year generally between 9:00am and 6:00pm. You can save money by bundling tickets with the National Center for Human and Civil Rights and/or World of Coke (all right next to each other and right next to Centennial Olympic Park!) Make sure to reserve spots online for the dolphin and sea lion demonstrations!

National Center for Civil and Human Rights

100 Ivan Allen Junior Boulevard Northwest, Atlanta, GA 30313

Don’t let the heavy subject matter deter you - the Center for Civil and Human Rights has sections for the civil rights movement, global human rights, and Morehouse College Dr. MLK Jr. collection. Featuring a "lunch counter sit-in simulation," this museum is an Atlanta staple.

Oakland Cemetery

374 Martin Luther King Junior Drive Southeast, Atlanta, GA 30312

Atlanta's most famous cemetery! Founded in 1850, Oakland is a beautiful, historic space with a number of "notable residents" - including Kenny Rogers and Margaret Mitchell.

Ponce City Market

675 Ponce De Leon Avenue Northeast, Atlanta, GA 30308

A vibrant food hall inside the old Sears building from the 1920s. Cool architecture and great food options! You can pay to go up to the roof which boasts some great Atlanta skyline views. PMC is also right on "the beltline" - a popular walking/biking trail that connects cool parts of the city. Walk from PCM to Krog St market if you have the time, it's 1.2 miles!

Krog Street Market

99 Krog Street Northeast, Atlanta, GA 30307

Another cool food hall in a repurposed 1920s space. Lots of great food options and the famous "Krog St Tunnel" is only two blocks away! Walk 1.2 miles down the scenic beltline to Ponce City Market if you have the time!

Atlanta Botanical Garden

1345 Piedmont Avenue Northeast, Atlanta, GA 30309

When Katie first visited Atlanta she skipped the botanical gardens. She figured "if you've seen one, you've seen them all." She was wrong. The Atlanta botanical garden is now one of her favorite spots in the city, and she holds an annual membership pass. Make a point to try and go!

Piedmont Park

Atlanta, GA 30309

Atlanta is called the "city in a forest" for a reason! We have lots of tree canopy, and Piedmont Park is an excellent example. This "urban forest" is great for recreation or just a day outside! There's also a big farmers market from 9:00am - 1:00pm on Saturdays.
