We met freshman year of college at Gonzaga, a small enough place that we ran into each other all four years.
We lived together senior year and biked all over Spokane, including to graduation.
Quiver Tree Forest - Namibia, 2018:
After college, Katie moved to Zambia to teach in the Peace Corps. Leigha flew out to Namibia to explore with Katie.
Leigha visited Katie's home in Luapula, Zambia and got to meet her host family and experience her everyday life.
We stayed in touch through COVID and had several visits back and forth across the country -- Leigha living in Seattle and Katie in Milwaukee.
We enjoyed lots of trips with college, Peace Corps, Seattle, and other friends, getting to see a lot of the country and figuring out that we wanted more than friendship.
Our first date felt a bit funny because we'd shared many dinners before, but this time it was different!
We joke that we single handedly kept Alaska Airlines in business when we were long distance because there was only one nonstop flight between Seattle and Milwaukee.
Falling in love was easy because we had known each other for so long.
We've spent a lot of special time together and with family on the water -- in Milwaukee and Seattle, Hells Canyon, Leigha's family cabin in Cascade, and Katie's family cottage in Green Bay.
We spent a month enjoying a Seattle summer before Leigha made the big move out to Milwaukee.
We did the drive over a few days and enjoyed the Badlands and some other stops along the way.
We celebrated a year together at the beach where we had our first date on Lake Michigan.
We live walking distance from the Brewers stadium and we love going to games. Leigha even roots for the Brewers (as long as they're not up against the Mariners).
We love spending time with our sisters (3 combined) and making them hang out with each other, too!
We're excited to get to share the special cabin in Cascade with you all for our wedding!
So far our time in the midwest has been filled with great friends, great food, and beautiful city and outdoor adventures!
We got engaged! Katie popped the question in April 2024 at the beach we had our first date. Our families were at the lookout at the top of the beach watching it unfold, and we celebrated together.
2023 and 2024 were full of celebrating friends' love and our own.
We traveled to Washington D.C., Tampa, Palm Springs, Tucson, all over Italy, Flagstaff, Seattle, Cascade, Spokane, Chicago, and more!
We're excited for everything and everywhere the future holds.
