There's an Aziz Ansari joke regarding online dating, he says "I have a friend, he met his wife on one of those sites and I asked him, I was like, “So, what’d you search?” ‘Cause that’s weirdly romantic. He types in this phrase, all these algorithms and things come together, this woman’s face comes up, he clicks it… that becomes the woman he spends the rest of his life with. So I asked him, “What’d you search?” And he goes, “Jewish and my zip code.”” Yeah, that's kind of how it happened. But we'd like to think it was more romantic than that. In fact, the day we matched on OkCupid, we wasted an afternoon at work chatting with one another and discussing the merits of tea over coffee, dogs over cats, and how waffles vs. pancakes was not a fair question, because obviously french toast trumps both. The connection was so strong we met that night at the now defunct Griffin's bar in Cresskill, NJ -- halfway between where the two of us were living at the time. On that evening, we realized that our values and interests weren't as shallow and binary as tea vs. coffee. In fact, we both felt strongly about our Jewish backgrounds, social justice issues, and a strong tie to our family and friends. We shared mutual interests in standup comedy, live music, and travel. And we both admire the strong women and stalwart men in our family. The connections didn't stop there. We also found that we both went to the same high school, Northern Valley Old Tappan -- Jon from 2000 to 2004, Katie from 2002 to 2006, but we didn't know each other at all during that time. That means that we lived only a town apart from one another throughout our entire childhoods. Three years later, we've added new shared passions. We're each other's favorite adventure buddy. And we are so excited to share this new adventure of marriage together.
