We are so excited to celebrate with all of you! So that we can ensure the safety of our guests, vendors, and venue employees, we’re kindly requesting that all guests be up to date with their Covid-19 vaccination series and urge everyone to take precautions in the weeks leading to the wedding so we all can celebrate and enjoy! Please note that the majority of activities will be outdoors or in a very well ventilated tent.
It's in your email! (Or potentially in your junk mail, the save the date might be there too- serves us right for trying to be cute with a new email address). In lieu of paper invites, we have planted a tree for each of you through the great organization One Tree Planted (https://onetreeplanted.org/) to restore areas affected by wildfires.
Weather- can be unpredictable. It will likely be hot and very sunny during the day (Colorado sun is stronger so definitely bring sunglasses, sunscreen, hat) could rain in the afternoon and will cool down at night, probably to the 60's but could get colder, pack layers!
Altitude- Redstone isn't super high, but is at 7,185 feet which you would definitely feel from sea level. Drink lots of water, and expect beers to hit you harder. Some studies indicate that taking Advil before you get to altitude can help prevent the symptoms and if you are driving, stopping for lunch on your way up can give your body a little break if you are feeling funky (https://med.stanford.edu/news/all-news/2012/03/ibuprofen-decreases-likelihood-of-altitude-sickness-researchers-find.html#:~:text=Ibuprofen%2C%20an%20anti%2Dinflammatory%20medication,in%20Annals%20of%20Emergency%20Medicine.).
Cell service/wi-fi- there isn't really cell service in the town of Redstone, but all the accommodations have wi-fi. Just prepare yourself for no cell service when you are out and about or hanging in the river. If you need directions or details to get into your rental, take screen-shots. Most places up there are well aware their guests won't have cell service until they arrive so provide really good info on getting in, just make sure you have that info saved.
Redstone has two restaurants (the inn where the wedding will be, and the pizza place where the Friday welcome party will be) the Inn will be open for breakfast and lunch, and the pizza place will be open for lunch. There is also a really cute general store that has a lot of good options, including super yummy local organic breakfast wraps and some lunch items, along with standard general store stuff. They also have a small liquor store. While you could certainly make do with what is in town, if there is anything you absolutely have to have, it probably makes sense to pick it up in Carbondale on your way up, there is a new City Market and bigger liquor store. There is also some very tasty food in Carbondale and a famous BBQ joint in an even tinier town called Marble that is past Redstone. Carbondale is the last place to get gas for 65 miles, so if you are driving make sure you have some gas!
While we are unable to have kids join for the wedding itself (solely based on space) we'd love to have them join on Friday! Once we know how many little ones we will have we can help with coordinating some group childcare right by the venue. Please let us know if you are bringing your little ones for the weekend!
Friday night attire- it's a pizza party by a river so casual, comfortable, and fun. I'll be wearing a fancy sundress and Jonathan will probably be wearing his favorite shirt (you know the one). Saturday night attire - Mountain Cocktail (I think that is a real thing, it means you can wear anything you want as long as you have croakies on your sunglasses). Just be a little festive but mostly comfortable, the ceremony will probably be pretty hot, and you might need a layer by evening time most of it will be on grass so wear comfy shoes.
