Things To Do

Shelbyville is an adorable town just outside of Louisville. If you'd like a couple other things to do in the area, here are some recommendations. In Louisville itself, we've included some classic Louisville must-sees if you're only here for a couple days and want a feel for the city.

Bulleit Distilling Co.

3900 Benson Pike, Shelbyville, KY 40065
, (502) 647-5799

If you've never taken a bourbon distillery tour, you need to have this quintessentially Kentucky experience. Bulleit Bourbon is nearby and offers tours.

Jeptha Creed Distillery

500 Gordon Lane, Shelbyville, KY 40065
, (502) 487-5007

If you like options, Jeptha Creed is another distillery experience that comes highly recommended.

Gallrein Farms

1029 Vigo Road, Shelbyville, KY 40065
, (502) 633-4849

Gallrein Farms is an adorable you-pick style farm with a petting zoo. Looks like strawberries may be in season around the end of May!

Talon Winery Tasting Room

400 Gordon Lane, Shelbyville, KY 40065
, (502) 633-6969

If you're more into wine than bourbon, Talon Winery offers tastings.

Claudia Sanders Dinner House

3202 Shelbyville Road, Shelbyville, KY 40065
, (502) 633-5600

Everyone knows Colonel Sanders and his fried chicken legacy. Claudia Sanders is a great place for that country southern food with that southern charm feel.

Muhammad Ali Center

144 North 6th Street, Louisville, KY 40202
, (502) 584-9254

This museum harbors permanent exhibits about Ali's life and work, as well as some rotating exhibits.

Churchill Downs

700 Central Avenue, Louisville, KY 40208
, (502) 636-4400

If you go to Louisville and don't go to Churchill Downs, did you really go to Louisville? In May, the museum is open daily, and races are held almost everyday, including brunch races on Sundays.

Louisville Slugger Museum & Factory

800 West Main Street, Louisville, KY 40202
, (877) 775-8443

If baseball is your thing, the Louisville Slugger museum and factory lets you get an up-close look at how the classic wooden bat is made.

Falls of the Ohio State Park

201 West Riverside Drive, Clarksville, IN 47129
, (812) 280-9970

One of our favorite places. Just across the river from Louisville, you can get a lovely view of the city while you walk the fossil beds. The interpretive center is recently renovating and gives an excellent natural history of the area.
