We met on an online dating site or what we like to call "Space Camp". It all began on March 13th, 2016 also the day Pittsburgh celebrated St. Patrick's Day that year. It all started with Katie dropping her phone & breaking the screen...She left the parade to go & get it fixed. Once Katie got her phone back she had a text waiting from Jon saying he was drinking with an old college friend of Katie's. That text was followed up with a picture of Jon & Monti drinking. Katie immediately booked an Uber & set off to South Side to meet up with Jon and Monti. This was the first time Jon and Katie met in person & in that moment it all made sense. We spent the rest of the day/night together including Katie practically carrying Jon back to his house since he had a horrible ankle injury at the time. Fast forward a few years we bought a house, added to our fur family, and did some traveling. Well our most recent trip to Belize was different. On February 16th, 2020 we were staying at a secluded beautiful airbnb in Secret Beach, Belize. We were more than half way through our vacation and there was no ring in sight. Katie was 100% sure there was not going to be an engagement ring this trip since Jon had her grabbing things out of his backpack for him. We started the morning of the 16th off with a delicious breakfast on the deck overlooking the water. Katie said to Jon, "Let's go relax in the palapa after breakfast." Jon agreed but said he had to use the restroom and would meet her down there. Katie and Maya (the airbnb dog) walked down to the palapa and were looking over at Leonardo Dicaprio's Island when Jon finally made it down to the palapa. Jon looked at Katie and said, "Could you do this life forever?" Katie responded by saying, "Absolutely!" Then Jon got down on one knee and popped the question! Katie cried and laughed for a couple of minutes then said, "Yes!"
