Things To Do

The Wedding Website of Jamie Hastings and Katie Maddison
Northumberland is our favourite place to visit as a family. Here is of a few of our recommendations for things to do and see if you're making a weekend of it!
The Joiners Arms

The Joiners Arms

7 minutes from our venue, The Joiners Arms is a village pub & inn that is located within the heart of Newton-by-the-Sea. A lovely welcoming and dog friendly option for food and drinks. It's also one of our recommended accomodation options.

Low-Newton-by-the-Sea

Low-Newton-by-the-Sea

10 minutes from our venue, this beach is one of our favourties in the North East with a stunning walk (1 hour) along the dog friendly beach across to Dunstanburgh Castle in Craster. The Ship Inn is a lovely welcoming, dog friendly local pub on the beach in Low-Newton which is well worth a visit!

Craster, Dunstanburgh Castle

Craster, Dunstanburgh Castle

15 minutes from our venue, Dunstanburgh Castle is a beautiful ruin which grazes the sea and is a gorgeous 20 minute walk from Craster. Craster is a friendly fishermans village with a harbour and famous for it's smoked kippers. We recommend the Jolly Fisherman Inn for a drink and pub grub (dog friendly).

Alnmouth

Alnmouth

20 minutes from our venue, Alnmouth is a picturesque coastal village situated at the mouth of the River Aln. The white sands, welcoming local shops and 10/10 fish and chips make it a top tier Northumberland town. If you're thinking of taking a walk along the beach it's worth checking the estuary tidal times. Our top food and drink recommendations for Alnmouth are; Scott's of Alnmouth for take-away picnic deli food, The Hope and Anchor for fish and chips or The Red Lion Inn for pub grub.
