Eddy & Katie met in person for the first time on 1/30/16, after a few weeks of talking on the dating app Bumble. Katie made the first move by sending a, “hey mister,”. Although Eddy did not consider this the strongest opening line he’s ever seen, he played along. Soon, small talk led to laughs, which led to a potential first date. They agreed to drinks at Stephi’s in Southie. It was Eddy’s first & only blind date. In the day leading up to the date, Eddy coached a volleyball tournament, & found himself low energy. Considering postponing, he consulted with one of his now-groomsmen, Raf Kosakowski, who encouraged him to put aside his trepidation. In the same vein, Katie showed a similar level of hesitancy, texting her college coach Stacey Noel, “blind date tonight, can’t wait for this to end violently.” Thankfully the date itself went better than both of them were expecting. Eddy & Katie talked, laughed, & shared stories for nearly five hours, which eventually led to a romantic walk home & plans for a future date. Both Eddy & Katie insist that at the end of the 2nd date – a snowy breakfast at Thornton’s in Boston - that they knew they had found their soulmate in one another. Eddy mustered up the nerve to finally ask Katie to make things official on Valentine’s Day – taking her to Fiore in the North End & popping the first of the important questions before they left. After more new adventures, hours of basketball & volleyball, some intense debates & endless fun, Katie moved with Eddy in Quincy on 9/1/16. Wasting no time - the couple were engaged in the early morning hours of 10/7/17 at Castle Isle, where they had shared many breakfasts, walks & considered it one of their go-to dates. Eddy continued the surprises, claiming they had a romantic dinner in RI, only to arrive have parents & family there to celebrate. According to Katie it was the perfect day. Eddy & Katie recently purchased their 1st home together - just up the street from where they first met.
