Bride
Groom
Maid of Honor
Not even 2 years after becoming a big sister to the Man of Honor, the bride soon had a little sister that she treated as her live-action baby doll. When Zoe was little, she would follow the bride and hung out with the bride's friends. The older girls taught Zoe too many inappropriate dances and put too much makeup on her little human face. But Zoe loved the attention. The bride likes the think that this helped Zoe in her college social life. Zoe's intelligence and humor have brightened the bride's life since 2001. The bride feels so lucky to be a part of Zoe's life. She is so happy her parents gave her not 1 but 2 built in besties
Man of Honor
This guy made the bride a big sister in 1999. When her mom told her she was getting a little brother, the bride--7 years old at the time--was concerned. Would she like this new baby? Would this new baby take the attention from her? She was correct on two counts. But, the bride immediately fell in love with Jacob and her responsibilities as a big sister. The bride loved reading to Jacob, teaching him how to play sports, and play video games, while also trying too hard to be his third parent. Jacob's heart has always been the biggest and his kindness is the warmest. Despite typical sibling fights & little brother's inherent meanness, Jake has grown into a wonderful man & the bride has felt privileged to be a part of his life. If he compliments your shoes, know he means it.
Matron of Honor
Sister-in-law to the bride, dental assistant, and all things spooky aficionado. Sydney is the newest addition to the Brooks clan (the groom is next), and her humor, kindness, and wit keep us all laughing. The bride loves that she has one more person to sit on the grass with while the rest of the Brooks clan takes corn hole too seriously. The bride will alway keep a picnic blanket ready for them both. The color yellow reminds the bride of Sydney because she is a ray of sunshine and warmth. She's not like a regular Slytherin, she's a kind Slytherin.
Best Man
Bridesmaid
The bride first bonded with Chelsea on their Study Abroad trip to Ireland. They saw beautiful sights (the Cliffs of Moher), drank delicious drinks that the Irish boys kept giving them (in Killarney where the bride was carried into a bar Disney Princess-style by an Irishman), and felt immensely embarrassed because of the morning after those delicious drinks (if you know, you know). All the late nights, laughs, and adventures galore made the bride claim Chelsea as her best friend (and great-grand little in Phi Sigma Sigma Sorority at UVA Wise). Chelsea is a kind, loyal, and beautiful person who means so much to the bride.
Best Girl
Nadia is Demetrius's little sister, and his "Best Girl".
Bridesmaid
The bride first met Chelsea at library school in Big Stone Gap, Virginia, at the ripe old age of 3. Their moms became best friends first, and the two have been bestie soul mates ever since. From library school to preschool to elementary school to high school to college, they've been by each other's side through many highs and lows. She is a mom to 3 beautiful children--one of whom is the Bride's goddaughter--and the bride is proud that she was the one who made Chelsea and her husband, Tyler, go on their first date that fateful summer so long ago.
Bridesmaid
Despite living in the same county as the Bride, Kelsey and the bride began their friendship when Kelsey rushed Phi Sigma Sigma at UVA Wise. Bonding over their mutual love of Eric Church and Luke Bryan, the two became fast friends and were constantly seen together at different events and parties. When the bride moved to Blacksburg for graduate school, one entire summer Kelsey claimed the bride's couch as she interned at the Virginia Tech Foundation. That summer is one the bride holds close to her heart, even the memories she can't exactly remember. Kelsey's kind but won't-put-up-with-anything nature makes her a fantastic friend and a beautiful human. The bride found a kindred spirit in Kelsey.
Bridesmaid
Who knew the bride would be so enamored by a Commander's fan from Northern Virginia? Danielle came into the bride's life when she rushed Phi Sigma Sigma at UVA Wise. The implied friendship and undeniable sisterhood that a sorority imparts on its members led the bride and Danielle to becoming close friends during the bride's senior year. On her 22nd birthday, the bride got to spend one-on-one time with Danielle as she celebrated in Northern Virginia. Danielle's soul and loyalty makes her a warm hug of a human being. The bride is thankful for her friendship.
Bridesmaid
Amanda, who the bride still has in her phone as Smalls, grew up in the county adjacent to the bride. They played tennis against one another in high school, but it wasn't until their junior year of college, when Amanda rushed Phi Sigma Sigma at UVA Wise, that their bond was created. The bride immediately claimed Amanda as her little sister in the sorority, and the rest was history. From nights spent on Amanda's spare mattress to days spent studying in the library, the two lived up to their "big" and "little" titles and their line's monicker of "hot mess." One of the bride's favorite memories with Amanda was helping Amanda's husband propose via scavenger hunt across Wise County. The bride was Amanda's chauffeur for the occasion. Amanda has two beautiful children and a heart of gold.
Bridesmaid
Graduate school can be really tough, but when you're able to connect with the people around you on things other than your love of theory (yeah right) or bonding over the hardest assignments you've ever faced (for real), it makes the journey much better. The bride was in her third year of PhD school when she met Maggie. The two bonded almost immediately. From drinks at Rivermill to watching the 2019 election results together (the two actually watched Harry Potter, but that is not the point), the bride is so thankful to have met Maggie.
Bridesmaid
The bride met Julie when she was a first-year master's student in the English program at Virginia Tech. First, Julie was the bride's mentor, someone she could go to when students were weird or if she just needed support in the classroom. Since the bride was at Virginia Tech for 7 years (MA and PhD), their relationship morphed from mentor/mentee to besties. The bride is so thankful for this friendship because Julie has truly seen her in some of the highest and lowest points of her 20s. From proofreading the bride's dissertation to traveling across the country to Sacramento for a conference, they have become close. Also, Julie's kid Benjamin has to be about the coolest kid.
Bridesmaid
The bride has known Mollie since she was a little girl, when their moms worked at the same clinic. Mollie, although closer in age to the Maid and Man of Honors, is one of the bride's absolute favorite people. Mollie and the Bride's mutual love of books, Harry Potter, and just nonsense in general keeps their Tik Tok DMs full of the strangest videos anyone has ever seen. Mollie and her family are part of the Bride's chosen family, and she is so very thankful for them.
