The invitations were all ready to be printed at the end of February 2020. Katie and Corbett had just returned from their Palm Springs vacation celebrating their upcoming nuptials with the wedding party. Then the news of COVID hit. Katie stayed up all night on Sunday, March 22nd coming to terms with the fact that the wedding and European honeymoon would have to be postponed. New dates were discussed and vendors were notified. Together they watched all their plans for a summer wedding come undone. As the world stood still, they just couldn't bear the thought of waiting indefinitely for permission to have a wedding. As their original wedding date approached, Corbett said, "Let's just get married!" Katie's cousin Annie would marry them. They picked a park a block from Annie's house in downtown Indy. They secured Ken and Cacky's Lake Wawasee condo for their honeymoon. Invitations were printed and hand delivered to all 14 guests. The night before the wedding, a late package was delivered. Inside was the dress Katie ended up wearing! She wore her Mom's veil. Pink peonies picked from her grandmother's garden surrounded the altar. On Saturday, June 6th at 10:30 in the morning, Katie and Corbett were married in a small but beautiful ceremony. Bron-Yr-Aur played as Katie's Dad walked her down the aisle. They used their grandparents' rings. Champagne toasts and cupcakes followed as Billie Holiday played in the park. They were so happy to have their parents and local siblings there with them and are grateful for all of the creative measures people took to be a part of the special day. They are looking ahead to their vow renewal ceremony and reception on New Year's Eve 2021! Katie and Corbett's first date was on New Years Eve 2007. They moved to Los Angeles on New Year's Eve 2009. The holiday holds a special place in their hearts and they look forward to celebrating their love for one another while ringing in the new year with all of their friends and family!
