As soon as you are ready! We have our flights booked! March is a more budget-friendly time to fly to India from the US
Citizens of USA and many other countries can apply for a tourist E-Visa online. Bring the approval paperwork with you, and once you land in India, they will provide the visa on arrival. See this website for more information. https://indianvisaonline.gov.in/evisa/tvoa.html
See this website to see what is recommended: https://wwwnc.cdc.gov/travel/destinations/ clinician/none/india
For all wedding events you are welcome and encouraged to wear traditional Indian clothing (Ladies: Sari, Lehenga, Salwar Kameez; Men: Sherwani). US/Western formal attire is suitable as well-- whichever feels most comfortable to you. To minimize your own stress, we recommend bringing your outfits with you instead of buying outfits in India. However, if you arrive in India at least a few days before the wedding festivities, it is possible to purchase outfits there.
Temperatures in Bhubaneswar in March: Average High 93 F Low 71 F.
Once we have arrival information from everyone, we will try to arrange group transports from the airport to the hotel. The hotel will host all wedding events, so no transportation will be needed. If you want to explore Bhubaneswar and beyond, we do not recommend renting a car and driving yourself- the driving style and road conditions are intense! We recommend hiring a car with driver to take you around- more details to come on that!
