Close destinations the Southeast: 45 minute drive: Hilton Head Island 2 hour drive: Charleston & Jacksonville 4 hour drive: Atlanta & Charlotte We recommend that you do not need to rent a car if you plan to stay solely in the historic district. Savannah is most known for its 22 lush squares, and how easy it is to walk through the city by foot.
