The trailhead is just a few miles from downtown Marquette, the turnoff from county road 550 is well marked, and it's a relatively quick hike to the top where you're rewarded with one of the best views in the Upper Peninsula.
The Dead River plunges through a half mile gorge near Marquette, Michigan, creating a series of varied and dramatic waterfalls. This is the final major fall upstream from the trailhead.
Presque Isle Park is one of the most visited sites in Marquette County for good reason. With ease of access, this 323-acre forested peninsula extends into the water offering visitors unmatched views of Lake Superior. Black Rocks is near the tip of Presque Isle Park in Marquette. To get to Black Rocks, park at one of the parking lots near the tip of Presque Isle and then walk toward the water, head East (right, if you’re facing the lake), and keep walking. After walking a few hundred yards, you’ll come to a cliff that drops fifteen or so feet straight down into Lake Superior. That’s the spot.

From this central location, hiking and biking trails sprawl around inland lakes and bogs, over rolling hills and vistas, and out to the shores of Lake Superior. With 39 miles of multi-use trails, it is a favorite for hikers and bikers alike.
