Held every Saturday, rain or shine! This is a Columbia social event, with food trucks, farmers, and other vendors. Open from 9am-1pm. Stop by for a bite to eat or pick up some Columbia goodies to take home!
Take a stroll along the river and keep a look out for eagles, river otters, and other critters!
Visit the top zoo in the southeast (really!) and all the new zoo babies, or take a stroll in the botanical gardens, also on the same site. There's a zip line as well if you're feeling really brave!
Check out the river - and the Columbia skyline - from the other side of town! Also on Sundays is the Brookland Brunch, with food trucks, a farmer stand, coffee, brunch drinks, and beer!
The State House offers free tours on Saturday mornings - stop by for the tour or simply wander the grounds and look for the bronze stars on the west and southwest sides of the building, indicating where Sherman's cannons struck the exterior walls.
The building where Richie lived is also a free art museum of sorts, with studio stalls for individual artists. Take a stroll around!
Some of the best beers in Columbia - but note, it's beer only, and not open on Sundays!
Very walkable campus sprawling through town. Some famous/well-known spots include the Horseshoe (Tio's restaurant nearby has some great sangria!) and Williams Brice Stadium (the football stadium).
Grab a house-brewed beer (or wine, or cocktail) here at the place it all began for us :)
The only National Park in the state of South Carolina is conveniently only about a 30 minute drive away. It's swampy - but the main trail is about a 2 mile easy walk, with longer trails off the boardwalk available. If it's warm, bring some bugspray!
If you're into history, Camden is a great spot. Visit the site of old Camden, which the British maintained during the Revolutionary War, and two battlefields a few miles away.
Lake Murray is a pretty massive manmade lake that hosts multiple fishing competitions each year. There's also the dam, which you can walk across, and has its own makeshift "love locks." Bring your own and add yourself to a little bit of South Carolina :)
