Question

What should I wear?

Answer

Fancy Summer Camp Attire: Wear what makes you feel cute, fancier than usual, and comfy. Please note that you will be walking on grass and dirt paths, so we recommend flats or wedges.

Question

What will the weather be like?

Answer

The historical average for Friday Harbor in early September is a high of 70 and a low of 50. We will have blankets and a bonfire later in the evening, but we recommend that guests prepare for it to get a little chilly in the evening. Men should be fine with a sport coat, and women may want to bring a shawl or sweater. You can also follow the weather forecast here: https://www.wunderground.com/weather/us/wa/friday-harbor

Question

Is Friday Harbor haunted?

Answer

SPOOKY! The "Afterglow Vista" is an open-air mausoleum near Roche Harbor, a few minutes drive from Friday Harbor and Lakedale. The mausoleum was contructed by John McMillin in 1936 to house the remains of his family. According to stories, blue lights have been spotted and photographed hovering above the chairs at the table. People claim to hear voices in the middle of the rotunda when no one else is around. On rainy days, it seems as if no rain falls on you when you stand underneath what would have been the bronze roof. And those who are brave enough (or foolish enough) to sit in one of the seats claim to experience an uneasy feeling as if they are trespassing, and some even claim to feel hands on them, pushing them off the chairs. And according to legend, it is said that as the sun sets on the mausoleum, shadows begin to appear around the table. https://www.atlasobscura.com/places/afterglow-vista
