Our Story - As Told by Kahtee

Matt and I met after both "swiping right" on Hinge - I was immediately drawn in by his smile and the massive burger he had in one of his photos. The first thing he said to me was, "If you could be any kind of kitchen utensil, what would it be?" I was obviously hooked by such a smooth opening line. We had our first date at LynLake Brewery where we spent hours talking mostly about Harry Potter. Again, hooked. He totally fumbled the goodbye and at one point even said, "I'm really bad at this," which honestly just made me like him more. Awkward people gotta stick together, am I right? We had our second date in the West End, and afterwards Matt, the gentleman that he is, walked me to my car where I was ready and excited for us to have our first kiss -- except that he would. not. stop. talking. about this bookshelf he was building at the time. I took things into my own hands and interrupted him mid-sentence with a kiss. More than four years later Matt asked me to marry him in that same parking garage, and I said yes to spending the rest of my life with my best friend. Since those first dates, we've adventured across the world together, eaten way too much Taco Bell together (JK there's no such thing as too much TBell), raised a little pupper named Henry together, and more. I am so incredibly excited and grateful to marry this man in front of our friends and family!

Our Story - As Told by Stew

Kati and I met in the most 2015 way possible – on a dating app called Hinge. We traded messages for a few weeks until we got to the exchanging numbers phase, which eventually lead to our first date. Predictably, I was about fifteen minutes late after pushing our original meeting time back by thirty minutes about an hour before we planned to meet. Not a great start. Apparently, I was charming enough for Kati to see past that. We then proceeded to gush about Harry Potter and life for the next 4 hours. Kati was beautiful, smart, funny, and seemed to be able to handle and maybe even appreciate all of my weird quirks. After I fumbled the goodbye on the first date (you can read Kati’s how we met for the details), we decided to go on another date about a week later. Again, predictably, I was late. For dinner I ordered spicy edamame and deviled eggs, Kati ordered chicken tenders. This was promising. At the end of the date I walked Kati to her car and was again fumbling the goodbye by talking about a bookshelf I had been building. Luckily Kati took the reins and went in for the kiss. This was in the parking garage of the West End, the same parking garage that 4 years later I would ask Kati to spend the rest of her life with me. We never definitively ‘started dating’ as far as I remember, we just fell in love over the next year. Since then, we’ve traveled the world together, moved in together, got a dog together (that was Kati’s idea for the record), and bought a house together. She is my best friend, my roommate, my travel partner, and the love of my life. I can’t imagine a better person to spend my life with, and I can’t wait to celebrate our love for each other with all of you!
