Matthew grew up in Chandler, Arizona, with his brother and two sisters. He attended the University of Arizona where he played on the club volleyball team and graduated with a Computer Science degree. After college he took his first professional job which sent him to Baton Rouge, Louisiana. He lived in Louisiana for five years before deciding to take a new job at IBM in Austin, Texas. During his free time, Matthew likes to read, write, watch movies, and play both sand and indoor volleyball. Kathryn grew up in Tempe, Arizona, and made lasting friendships playing soccer and volleyball. She took her passion for both education and sports to the University of Arizona in Tucson, where she played on the club soccer team. Kathryn graduated with dual degrees, a major in Psychology and a major in Special Education and Rehabilitation. After graduation, she returned to Tempe, unsure which career path to pursue. Ultimately, she decided to further her education by moving to Austin, Texas, to pursue a Master’s in Occupational Therapy. Since living in Austin, Kathryn has spent her time hiking the Greenbelt, playing volleyball, and paddle boarding. Kathryn and Matthew share a love for sports, which is how they met. Matthew was playing volleyball with a team that included Shannon, a friend of Kathryn's. During one of the games, they needed an extra player, and Shannon invited Kathryn to join. Kathryn played alongside Matthew, and at the end of the game, the two started a conversation about their alma mater and hometowns, discovering they had grown up just six minutes apart. Three days later, they went on their first date, and the rest is history!
