Maid of Honor
Having a sister means a lot of things. You have someone to play with, look up too and challenge you. Lisa, you and I have done sister trips, family vacations, explored the creeks at Woodworth Drive as well as played in the snow or rode bikes in the driveway as Dad cooked on the grill. Some times we have gotten along and some times we have needed space and time apart, but in the end you will always be my only sister and that is a bond like no other. Thank you for being my sister!

Nicolette and I met 7 years ago when we both started our 1st year of teaching at TJMS. During the first years of our friendship we shared girls Christmas parties and nights out, bridal showers & weddings. Even though these celebrations were exciting it was the daily support and encouragement on the job that really made our friendship grow. Nicolette, you have been so patient with me when I am overwhelmed or fall all the way to the literally ground because I am carrying way too much stuff. You know how to cheer me up simply through a GIF text or a priceless, funny story from your weekend. Our trips to Charleston, SC, Iowa and of course our winery tour are definitely some of my best memories. You step up like no one I have ever known to help people and never expect anything in return.

At Elon, Mauria and I were both in the Middle Grades math edu. program. I quickly learned Mauria was full of creativity, enjoyment of life and laughter. We became closer as we started taking all of our classes together Junior and Senior year, when the middle grades family was officially formed. So many memories, van rides with Laura Williams, studying, paper writing or working on unit plans in the CRC. Surviving student teaching one day at a time. Jumping through fountains and writing notes on the backs of portraits. After college, led to bi-annual get togethers, bridal showers, weddings, baby showers and so much more. Mauria, I am so impressed and thankful you came to Elon by yourself from Long Island, NY to meet some southern girls!

Amber and I were both in the Middle Grades EDU program. During our Elon years we completed unit plans & papers, student taught at Turrentine, and finally an amazing fountain hopping overnight stay in the CRC before graduating. After Elon, we continued our now called, bi-annual or more middle grades family meet ups, bridal showers, weddings and now wonderfully have classrooms right next to each other at Eno River. Amber, as I have said before I am so thankful that we started our phone calls after Elon because I know they brought us closer. This school year especially has included a lot of change for me, and your ability to easily make me laugh, to have someone to celebrate with and just to be reassured that you are there on the other side of the wall has made all the difference.

Colleen and I have been close friends since 7th grade. We have shared some surprises like my family moving into a house right up the hill the summer before our freshman year, and then our Mom's throwing us a joint 16th birthday. We have spent pool days, lots of girls sleepovers, concert band trips, HS prom, visited each other during college, New Years Eve celebrations and more. Colleen you have been such a good listener, & helped me process a lot over the last 15 + years. I am so grateful for our multiple years of Easter pictures & more importantly being able to challenge each other with our shared Christian faith & love of service. You are the only friend who has ever seen me teach, & that was such a joy. I am so thankful that we have been able to support each other in goals of all types!

When someone is having a hard time Lauren has the best and most personal ideas to make them feel better. For example two of the best - boot bow and a fabulous ankle package, which the whole MG family contributed! Lauren's similar hard work effort was irreplaceable to me in the math edu problem at Elon. She also puts in an enormous effort to be there in times of celebration, need and really just anytime! Lauren, you are incredible to drive so many miles. It is amazing to me all you fit into your schedule, and the lengths you go to be present for your friends, family and students. I know I appreciate it so much! Lauren is a very strong women with unreal self-control and true joy to have around!

Linda, so much to say in 800 characters. First you a leader of mine in the SLC connecting over football, movie nights and service, but spending a whole semester abroad, Spring 2010, we really learned how each other worked. After college, 2 weeks traveling across the country in July 2015 we experienced so much more! From losing my debit card in an ATM & our place to stay all in 1 night in Rome - to your credit card getting hacked in Oregon on the day we got stuck on an island for an extra hour in a terrible thunderstorm-we have made it through thick and thin. Thank you for all the phone calls that calmed me down our wonderful destressing Elon campus walks where we talked through our next career or academic moves. It is amazing that we have been through such a variety of times together!

Courtney has so many fun date ideas that she lets me borrow, & has the same love for travel. :) I think God definitely was in the plan to have us both choose to go to London, and I specifically remember our Liverpool adventures. Your excitement to see everything Beatles really made that whole side trip a different experience. Hence our picture on the Beatles stage, I had to go back almost 10 years to find that one. I am so grateful for your curiosity in reading books that would be outside of many people’s comfort zone just so you can understand those around you better. Courtney your attention to detail, especially with your wedding, inspired me to do the same. I have learned from you that it is important to let others know you notice the details because this trait warms others' hearts.

Knowing someone from 2nd grade can mean lots of things, but thankfully for us it means we are understanding friends. We have been there for each other at times of celebration and tears all the ups and downs. From Whitaker fall festivals to making the big decision to go to TJMS, to knowing each other's home phone numbers by heart because we always needed to talk about homework, making Christmas cookies, and finally getting an orange rind zester. 2004, making the big decision to go to Tabor and start marching band. Hours of practice, football games Friday night and competitions on Saturday. You and G including me in so much like dinners, Greek Festivals, trips to Furman, App music camp visits and of course proms and being your Maid of Honor. So grateful for our friendship.

The time we met at our 1st yr teaching orientation I did not expect it to turn into a friendship I greatly appreciate and could not imagine being without in my life. It has always been so neat to have a friend to bounce professional ideas off of as well as being able to talk about pretty much everything else. Visiting back and forth between each others classrooms, have girls nights with Nicolette including brie and wine, Starbucks, watching TJMS sports games and going to bible study some together are just a few things that made my time at TJMS special. I have learned so much from our friendship from fashion lessons to how to not be quite so stubborn. You are so hospitable, and truly take such care of the people around you. Ellen Anne you are truly someone who is there whenever I need.
