It's not so much a "told-ya-so" for Kathryn as it was a pure stroke of luck for Alex. Because in Boystown, during Pride Fest on June 18th 2022, right about 6:03 PM, in a sea of rainbow flags and glitter and joviality and love is love proof points, among the tens of thousands of scantily clad festival goers high on High Noons and warm pocket vodka, Kathryn's keen eye honed in on something she never anticipated seeing: A straight guy at Pride Fest? Friends of friends brought the two together that day. Gazes are cast. Gaydars go radio silent. Swirling in Kathryn's head are 10 words that will change her life forever. "What's the deal with the dude in the Bulls hat?" That dude did NOT anticipate finding love at this particular Jamboree either. But there she was, bopping her head, swirling her hair, Nooner in tow, eyes on the prize; at this point, a bright, glowing light, and Alex little more than a dumb moth under a complete trance. Closer. Closer. Closer. "Hi." Then, light speed: gay honky tonk, drag show, blistering DJ, strobe lights, dancing together into the night. Game, set, match made in heaven. Neither of them ever looked back. *** Three years, 5 passport stamps, and one puppy later, they're doing the deed with childlike anticipation. Kathryn, a bombshell in every right, detonated her way into Alex's life. Alex, who cannot sit still, does so now, regularly — easily, even— beside his fiancé, poking, pestering, inspiring and discovering new layers to love never thought possible. Both now happy to see how far the rabbit hole goes. *** Thank you, Boystown, friends, family, any and everyone who's helped coerce and foster and co-author this little story of ours.
