The Proposal

8.13.2023

On our annual trip to Thunder Mountain Ranch in Wisconsin we fished, pet horses, ate ice cream and so much more. On the very last night of the trip, we stayed up late talking and just as Kathryn was getting ready to go to sleep, Adam asked her to stand up. He got on one knee and said "I think it's about time I do this....will you marry me?". Kathryn of course said "YES" in a heartbeat. We're so excited that you'll all be joining us to celebrate!

Venue

Ewing Manor formerly Sunset Hill

We wanted to give everyone a little history behind our wedding venue and why you’re all traveling to the middle of the Midwest. Sunset Hill, now formally known as Ewing Manor, is the ancestral home of Kathryn’s great great grandmother and coincidentally is only an hour from where Adam grew up in Springfield, IL. History: The Ewing residence originally belonged to Davis and Hazle Buck Ewing. The residence was built between 1928 and 1929 after the couple returned from a trip around the world. This year-long trip was the inspiration for many of the designs in the residence. Hazle Buck Ewing continued living there until she passed away in 1969. She bequeathed the residence to the Illinois State University Foundation, and required that it should function as a center for promoting intercultural understanding.
