Question

What is the dress code?

Answer

The dress code for our wedding is formal. We know this is a bit ambiguous sometimes so here are some basic descriptions plus a link with examples to help! Suit with jacket and necktie or bow tie would be most appropriate. Darker tones are recommended as it is a fall/winter season wedding. Tuxedos, though welcome, are not required. Long dresses or sophisticated cocktail dresses are best. If you feel more comfortable in a pantsuit or similarly constructed formal outfit, that is also perfectly acceptable. Floor length gowns, though welcome, are not required. https://www.theknot.com/content/formal-wedding-attire Still need ideas or help on what would be appropriate to wear? Never fear because the maid and matron of honor are ready to help! You can email them anytime with questions or for advice regarding dress code. Question

May I bring my children?

Answer

We love kids! However keeping space at the wedding in mind, we have specified how many seats will be reserved in your honor for our wedding and reception on your personal invitation.

Question

Will everyone be required to be vaccinated against Covid-19?

Answer

Yes, everyone who is eligible to be vaccinated will be required to have all shots - including a booster - to attend the wedding. If you find yourself feeling ill (even if you are vaccinated) prior to the wedding, we ask that you please excuse yourself from the event to avoid spreading any contagious disease.

Question

Will there be transportation available?

Answer

We will provide shuttles from the church ceremony to the reception venue. There will also be shuttle transportation provided from the reception venue to the Madison Hotel at the end of the night. If you are not staying at the Madison Hotel, you can still take the shuttle because it is within walking, bus route, or short Ubering distance to most places in the District. There will be an early shuttle leaving the reception around 8:30p for all the folks that have an earlier bedtime, but the final bus won't leave until 10:30p after the last song of the night! If you're bringing a car to the District, you can rest assured there is plenty of free parking at the monastery for you.

Question

What should I bring to Washington, DC?

Answer

1. Layers - fall in DC is usually quite mild, but sometimes it can range from sunny and warm to misty and chilly, so layers are best. 2. Good walking shoes - if you plan on spending some of your time adventuring outside the wedding, make sure to take care of your feet! 3. SmartTrip card or SmartTrip App on your phone - this is the easiest way to travel on any form of public transportation in DC. It's fast, easy-to-use, and pretty affordable. 4. Vaccine card - DC's Covid infection numbers have been improving (as of February 2022), but the city tends to waver back and forth in regards to checking vaccination records before allowing folks indoors. This is especially important for restaurants, theatres, and indoor tours. It's in everyone's best interest to make sure you're fully vaccinated per CDC guidelines and have your card with you at all times.

Question

Is it possible for me and my family to get a tour of the White House or the Capitol Building?

Answer

Yes! However, the National Park Service does not schedule White House or Capitol tours or provide tickets to enter the White House or the US Capitol. Public tour requests must be submitted through your Member of Congress. These self-guided tours are generally available Friday and Saturday (excluding federal holidays or unless otherwise noted). Tours are scheduled on a first come, first served basis. Requests can be submitted up to three months in advance and no less than 21 days in advance. You are encouraged to submit your request as early as possible as a limited number of spaces are available. The White House tour is free of charge. Please note that White House tours may be subject to last minute cancellation. If you wish to visit the White House and are a citizen of a foreign country, please contact your embassy in Washington, DC, for assistance in submitting your request.
