After meeting in the spring of 2014 as members of Assumption's Campus Activities Board, Katie knew that Kodey was more than just her friend. Kodey knew that Katie was in a long term relationship at the time, but always wanted it to be something more than friends as well. That summer, Katie broke it off with that long term boyfriend because she couldn't picture herself with anyone but Kodey. She hinted that she liked Kodey multiple times, but if you ask him, he had no idea. Clearly, she needed to be more forward with her flirting! Fast forward to fall of 2015--Kodey and Katie were inseparable. They were always in the CAB office together, hanging out after class, doing homework together, and partying together. Katie would find any excuse to spend time with Kodey because he made every moment so much fun. If you ask him, Kodey enjoyed spending time with Katie and wanted to see where their relationship could go. On November 15, 2015, Kodey asked Katie to be his girlfriend after a few months. They continued their relationship throughout undergrad at Assumption. After graduating in 2017, they decided to move in together so the fun could continue.

They now call Clarksburg their home after buying their first home together in 2019. They also welcomed two foolish boys into their home; Murphy and Ralphie have only strengthened their bond and have helped to expand their love for each other and their little family. In march of 2020 their relationship was put to the test as quarantining together grew frustrating at times, as many of you can agree with. Between working from home together, unnecessary baking and many a zoom happy hour they were forced to realize how grateful they truly were for each other. Their lives are now infinitely better as they help each other grow as individuals every day.

On the weekend of November 8th, Katie went to visit her Mom in Connecticut. Kodey thought that this was the perfect opportunity to make his move and finally ask Katie to marry him. With a little help with some friends, he was able to create what he thought would be the best way to ask her to spend their lives together. He was able to go and get all of the necessities over the weekend and he even almost blew it by sending her a Snapchat video talking about what he was going to do and how he was going to ask her. Good thing she wasn't paying attention. On the day of the proposal, Kodey decorated the house and the tree in their backyard with pictures of them throughout their relationship and he scattered flower petals around the house and into the backyard. However, while she was on her way home, Katie had other plans; She wanted him to go and get her Mac & Cheese, as she was starving and didn't think she was going to be able to wait for food at Kodey's parent's house. He had to convince her that they would go to the store together when she got home. As her car pulled into the driveway, Kodey ran into the backyard and waited for Katie to come down to the backyard. When she opened the back door her immediate reaction was "What are you doing?" and then slowly made her way down to Kodey. Then, he got on one knee and BAM--put a ring on it. Later that day, they were able to surprise their family and close friends with their big news. It was one heck of a celebration!
